Reflecting on a Creative Year at The Artists' Gallery

Writer's picture: The Artists' GalleryThe Artists' Gallery

As the year winds down, we at The Artists' Gallery are taking a moment to celebrate the journey we've been on in 2024.

From transforming and opening in our new location in just 3 days (we're still not sure how we pulled it off!) to collaborating with our incredible visiting artists, it’s been a year of growth, inspiration, and connection.

Welcoming new Artists

We welcomed 2 new Artists to the Gallery. Alice Savery from 'Alice Draws the Line' brought her beautiful modern calligraphy and pen and watercolour illustrations while Laura-Jayne Grey from 'Small Dog Silver' came bearing folklore and myth inspired jewellery. Both of them jumped right in as permanant Artists, with Alice taking the reins of our social media channels and Laura-Jayne working on the website and email newsletters.

Celebrating a Milestone

We celebrated 5 years of being in existence as The Artists' Gallery. An idea by our founder Shelly Perkins to create a collective space where artists could exhibit their work and patrons could meet the creators came to life in the best way. We started on site at the Ludlow Food Centre complex as a 'pop up' in the building that now houses the Ludlow Distillery. A couple of years later we moved into a different location on site, our own small unit, which some of you may have visited and earlier this year we packed everything and moved again!

Moving into Our New Home

Relocating to our new space above the Ludlow Food Centre was both a challenge and a thrill, and we’re incredibly proud of how it has transformed into a space absolutely full of joy and creativity. Our new location has provided an even better setting to showcase both our permanent and guest artists' work and offers visitors a welcoming, airy space to discover art, find unique gifts, and support creative talent.

It’s been wonderful to see our regulars embracing the change and so many new faces coming through our doors.

Guest Artists

Another highlight through the year has been our roster of visiting artists who’ve brought fresh perspectives and diverse talent to The Artists' Gallery. These artists each shared something uniquely theirs, whether through sculpture, paintings, or mixed media, giving our gallery a dynamic boost.

Exhibitions and Beyond

Our little gang have also been busy taking The Artists' Gallery beyond our walls. This year, we’ve attended a range of events and exhibitions, extending our reach and bringing a piece of our gallery to multiple different venues and audiences. Participating in these events has been a brilliant opportunity to meet people who might not have discovered us otherwise, and it’s always inspiring to see the enthusiasm for locally produced art. On top of that Shelly has been busy leading painting and sketching holidays all across the world - envious? Us? Only a lot!

Thank You to Our Supporters

Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of you - our fabulous supporters. Every purchase, every word of encouragement, and every visit contributes to keeping our creativity alive. To our visitors, artists, and friends at Ludlow Farm Shop - thank you for being part of this journey.

As we look to the coming year, we’re excited about new projects, more artists, and continuing to bring art into people’s lives in meaningful ways. Here’s to more inspiration and shared moments in the year ahead!
